MALMO
Malmo is the third largest city of Sweden and can trace its history back to the 12th century. The city is located in southern Sweden on the shores of Oresund. Malmo has been an important commercial center for many centuries and was once the capital of the province of Skane, when it belonged to Denmark. Later Malmo became one of the Hanseatic League cities. As a busy shipping center, Malmo has some ten kilometers (6 miles) of quays and Sweden’s largest man-made harbor.
But Malmo has two faces – one for the businessman and another for the tourist. The visitor to Malmo can choose to ignore the high-rise buildings and the flashing neon lights and head for the parks, the canals, the historical buildings or for the bathing beaches and the horseracing track. Total population of Malmo is approximately 235,000.
Prices and taxes of goods in Puerto Rico are comparable to those in the states. And despite Puerto
Rico’s dominant Spanish influence, the currency is still in US dollar. There is not much stark
difference to the prices and brands with mainland US, but tourists will surely make their trip more
memorable by purchasing local products and souvenirs that aren’t available elsewhere.
