From outside this prominent comer location in the heart of Davis Square, Mike’s looks like your average pizza and sub shop but when was the last time you saw a shrimp scampi pizza?
This place has a whole lot to offer beyond the basics, which are terrific to begin with. Everything’s homemade, including fresh sauce and pizza dough made up daily. The prices make it easy to try em all, like just $6.45 for a hefty plate of fet-tucine Alfredo with garlic bread. Or try the lobster ravioli, and the veggie lasagna.
Veal, chicken, and shellfish dinners, around $8-$ 10, come in all the traditional Italian styles cacciatore, marsala, parmagiana with pasta, salad, and bread. As for the wide variety of pizzas, Monday is the time to go: Buy any large pie, and get a second large one for free (plus $2 for toppings).
Mike’s has an impressive selection of beverages to wash all this down: imported drinks like orzata, the almond soda commonly found in Europe, plus pitchers of beer and over a hundred special brews in bottles. With its bright orange formica ta-
