465 Huntington Ave. Boston; (617) 267-9300 Introduce your kids to the MFA in an easygoing way with these on-go-ing gallery programs for ages six through twelve. As the name implies, there is no formal registration; just drop in on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. for a forty-five minute excursion into the world of art. Recent topics include Splendor of India, a sketching and storytelling workshop. The workshops are free, but admission to the museum is required.
If your kids love puppet shows (and what kid doesn’t?), Brookline Village is the place to go. The Puppet Showplace Theater features adaptations of classic tales like Cinderella, Rumpel-slillskin, Sleeping Beauty, and other stories kids will enjoy, presented by member puppeteers and troupes from around New England using various styles from masks to marionettes to traditional puppetry, presented by a repertory of different troupes in the region.
Tickets are $6 for everyone. Performances, recommended for ages five and up, are held on Saturdays at 1 p.m. and 3 P.M. with added shows during the summer and school vacation weeks. An occasional program called T.O.T. “Theater on Thursday is especially for pre-schoolers from three to five years of age. Call for a copy of PST’s calendar, Puppet-playbill.
