A library from 1907 to 1963, the Neo-Classical Carnegie now houses Oxnards municipal art collection, which was begun in 1924. Besides showing traveling exhibits that change every two months, the Museum exhibits its permanent collection of 500 paintings, drawings and photographs, and 350 ethnographic artifacts. Selections from the permanent collection rotate every quarter. The permanent collection include works by Arthur Beaumont, Cornelius Botke, Jesse Arms Botke, Colin ( ampbell Cooper, Katherine Leighton. Leo Politi, Millard Sheets, and Hamid Zavareei, as well as contemporary California artists.

A community art center, the Armory presents exhibitions, pertormances. and educational programs in its gallery and studio i-pace. hxhibitions feature contemporary works in a variety of media by emerging and nationally recognized artists. Exhibitions are also regularly presented in the Arsftrys Cmmunit. Rjom. including student artwork and shows organized bv community-based organizations.
