The Gothic Revival-style architecture of the church stands out among the standard bricksand-mortar buildings that surround it. Built in 1926 to accommodate the joining of the Trinity and Tryon Street Methodist congregations, the church retains its original architecture, including Gothic-style windows that were handcrafted using the same techniques used in European cathedrals built in the 9th and 10th centuries. The 22 stained-glass windows in the church were made from pieces of hand-blown glass that were individually stained to ensure the highest-quality detail and color. The acoustics in the church have earned it a reputation as a premier destination for live performances, from Handel’s Messiah to visits by the Vienna Boys’ Choir, Charlotte Children’s Choir, and the Charlotte Symphony.

Much of the property remains an undisturbed wildlife ecosystem, and native buttonwood trees, also called sycamores, pepper the landscape.
