120 South Market Bldg. Quincy
Market, Boston; (617) 523-2339 Walking through the Faneuil Hall Marketplace one day, Mine chanced upon a most unusual thing: A restaurant in this touristy destination offering reasonably priced food, a free happy hour buffet, free acoustic music on Fridays, and a Sunday jazz brunch. Joy!
Sit down over fish and chips or a char-broiled chicken salad platter, either of which goes for a reasonable (in these parts) $8.95. Less expensive yet are several sandwich options, from a good burger and fries ($5.95) to the American in Paris, chicken marsala topped with sauteed mushrooms on a baguette ($6.95).
Of course, if you really want cheap, stop in weekdays from 5 to 8 p.m. for the free happy hour buffet More than just cheese and crackers, Serendipity 3 features hot appetizers like chicken wings and Peking ravioli. Friday night’s buffet is the biggest and may even include tacos or roast beef sandwiches. It’s also the night when local acoustic musicians perform from 9 P.M. to 1 A.M. definitely one of Mine’s favorite downtown deals. And the Sunday jazz brunch, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 pm. pairs up live, no-cover music with moderately priced food choices.
Open every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, serving until 11 P.M. but dessert is available until 11:30 P.M.
