Chinatown is home to family-run stores and teahouses. Let’s first take a tour of Six Senses Maxwell. My tour of its sister property Six Senses Duxton starts at 19’29. Six Senses Maxwell enjoys a prime location in Chinatown. It sits at the junction of Duxton, Tanjong Pagar and Maxwell Road. The hotel occupies a place replete with histo. The building actually comprises 14 houses that were joined together as a single entity.

The hotel site was originally a nutmeg plantation. Let’s take a tour of Six Senses Maxwell’s public areas The ground floor houses a reception area, a library lounge, two bars and restaurant. The reception desk is framed by warm chestnut wood. Flamboyant high-backed velvet chairs with tassels are located on the side of the lobby. The lobby leads to the hotel’s social library. Called “Cook & Tras”, the library also doubles as a restaurant and bar. The library’s decor melds tradition with modernity. The Ultimate Library builds book collections for hotels & residences around the world. The library serves small plates throughout the day. A stunning bar counter takes center stage at the library, displaying hundreds of spirits. I’ll show you some dishe. Garcia is a famous French designer. Called Rose Lounge, this bar has a lighter, more lustrous decor compared to Garcha’s. Rose Lounge exudes a serene ambiance. lt is ideally suited for private events, afternoon tea parties and product launches. Rose Lounge offers an impressive Champagne collection. White and rose wines, spritzers and signature Rose Bellini are also served. This is the entrance to ‘Murray Terrace Brasserie’.

This European styled dining venue is named after the building in which it is housed. Classic Parisian elements are blended with marble tables. Asian influenced wine displays sit next to handcrafted Indonesian furniture. Recipes at the restaurant are European inspired. There’s a strong focus on Mediterranean cooking methods. The menu includes classics such as:. Seafood platter, beef tartare, French onion soup and lobster bisque. They are located across four floors of the sustainably restored building. The suite’s decor has a bright red color palette. It features a bedroom with king size bed, separate living room, and ensuite bathroom. The suite is not very large. The hotel had to work within the constraint of existing structures in the heritage building. The room is thoughtfully decorated with original artwork. The room also has a wellness book, baoding balls, and relaxation oh-bal. The Lafroy Brooks fixtures-adorned bathroom is tiny. It is equipped with one sink, a walk-in shower, and a toilet. Yoga and meditation sessions are also offered. These sessions take place under an old, large Angsana tree with ‘Heritage Tree’ status. Let’s have dinner at Six Senses Maxwell’s library. The restaurant’s menu is influenced by Straits heritage cuisine.
