The Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, Stadiou 24 in Syndagma, provides info and makes reservations for all types of hotels throughout Greece. Adonis Hotel, Kodrou 3 (210 324 9737), in Plaka. From Syndagma, follow Filellinon; turn right on Nikodimou and left onto Kodrou. A family hotel with a delightful rooftop lounge. To sleep on covered roof in summer, bring a sleeping bag (‚10).
Athens International Hostel (HI), Victor Hugo 16 (210 523 2049; www.hostel-booking.com), in Omonia. Walk down 30 Septemvriou from PI. Omonia and take a left on Veranzerou, which becomes Victor Hugo after crossing Marni. Hot water 6-10am and 6-10pm. Laundry service. Sheets included. Common kitchen available. Reservations required.
