SIGHTS

The heart of the city at ‘Kropcke’ has completely changed with new urban buildings. The construction of the ‘Passerelle’ has finally resolved the problem of the 100 year old main railway station. Pedestrian zones were created and the inner town was somewhat extended at Raschplatz. The promenade of George Street, the Kropcke, the Passerelle, the Lister Mile and also the restored old town with its traditional buildings and numerous inns are favorite meeting places. The Old Town Hall, Leine Castle, Opera House, Market Church, Ballhof, Historical Museum and the frame work facades are only some of the characteristics which highlight the gentle and remarkable side of Hanover. The Regional Museum, the Historical Museum, the Kestner Museum and the Wilhelm Busch Museum continue the cultural and historical traditions. The Sprengel Museum displays works from 20th century. The Opera house, the Ballhof, the Theater am Aegi and the smaller stages offer classical theater and cabaret shows. Hanover is also a hot music center: Jazz, Rock, Pop and Country music are plentiful. Some television programmes come from the Hanover municipal center; ARD and ZDF are represented in Hanover. Choirs and orchestras from the capital perform around the world.
