Traveling in Thailand

Nokair has attractive combined Fly / Drive / Ferry tickets Nokair is mostly the cheapest option of all available choices. One of the reasons: It doesn’t operate from the new Suvarnabhumi airport but from the old Don Muang airport which is around 45 minutes away from the international airport Suvarnabhumi.

I definitely prefer Don Muang airport over Suvarnabhumi airport. Why? Firstly if coming from Bangkok City Center Don Muang is slightly quicker to access (by Taxi) than Suvarnabhumi. But more important Don Muang is virtually empty; only 3 domestic airlines are flying from this airport. This means no queuing like in Suvarnabhumi, no tight security checks, and you can go from check in to your Gate within couples of minutes only. Also less delays than in ultra-busy International Suvarnabhumi airport. On the downside, if you’re looking for an ultra-modern Airport then Don Muang won’t be the first choice for you. But I always enjoy the easiness of traveling through Don Muang.

Cost from City center to Don Muang airport is around 250 baht, but depending on traffic and if you want to use the faster Toll ways or not (add another 50 baht if you want the expressway).

The biggest advantage of Nokair to all other mentioned airlines can be seen in their Destination map above. Nokair is therefore the preferred choice when you’re travelling destination is on small islands in the south e.g. Koh Lipe, Koh Lanta or Koh Phi Phi.

Nokair not only offer flights to airports, but also sells combined Air/Bus/ Ferry tickets. Let’s have a look at an example: Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lipe or Koh Lanta have no own airport and therefore difficult to reach by buying different tickets / taxis, ferries and might scare visitors. Nokair serves those places with combined Tickets. You buy ONE ticket on their webpage and enjoy your trip. No need to care much, everything is organized by Nokair: Flight, Bus transfer to the pier and the Ferry. Just enjoy your trip!

Most Flights are between 1000baht and 2500 baht and mostly the cheapest and most convenient way to travel within Thailand. Btw, the Author doesn’t own any shares in Nokair, nor does he get any rewards like free flights for this recommendation 😉 But it’s simply a not well known fact since Domestic airline Nokair is not known to most foreigners.
