Sound & Light Show

The sound and light show is an interesting opportunity to view the ruins in a different light (literally). Guarani-Baroque music from the Jesuit era is played as floodlights illuminate the casa de indios and smaller lights create a twilight effect throughout the ruins. Meanwhile Jesuit themed images are projected onto the walls of the mission’s church. The show lasts about an hour and is an interesting way to experience the ruins, though those depending on public transportation may find it is not preferable to a daytime visit. Thu-Sun, Summer 8:30pm, winter 7pm.

Getting There

Trinidad is located just off the side of Route 6 at km 30. The turn off is well signed. Coming from Encarnacion it is on the right-hand side of the road.

Buses heading past las ruinas leave from Encarnacion’s bus terminal every hour. The ride takes between half an hour to an hour so it is best to ask at the terminal which bus will get you there the fastest. Bus fare is approximately Gs. 6,000. If you plan on returning to Encarnacion by bus keep in mind that there are significantly less buses on Route 6 past dusk.
