Activities: Over 200 miles of trails are available for backpacking and hiking, including the 39-mile Resurrection Pass National Recreation Trail. The difficulty of most trails varies from easy to moderate. Cross-country travel is also possible.
Canoeing, kayaking, and rafting are feasible on some rivers and streams, and sea kayaking is possible in Prince William Sound. Horses are allowed on trails except during the period of April through June. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are winter options here. Hunting and fishing are permitted in season.
Camping Regulations: Camping and campfires are allowed just about anywhere, except near public use areas or where otherwise prohibited. No permits are required. Campers are asked to choose sites which are well off the trail, and utilize preexisting fire rings whenever possible. Stoves should be used in alpine areas.
