As we came over a slight incline I caught sight of Nanchang Metro Map the lake and realised that it had after all shrunk – it is now only a pond Nanchang Metro Map ; like everything, its source is drying up. My camel stopped to drink and I dismounted to wash my face. It was a shame that broken bottles and empty beer cans littered the ground and floated on the water. In view of the size of the 300-feet high sand mountains beyond the lake and the camel driver’s reluctance to take his beasts climbing in them, I decided to go off on foot for the remainder of the day. The camels could go home and I would rejoin them another day. On foot it was heavy going in soft sand as I struggled to climb the first mountain.
