Florida Road Trips

Start in America’s First City, where the Bunnery Bakery & Cafe fi lls the air with the aroma of pastries and fresh bread. For a dose of history, visit the 17th-century Castillo de San Marcos National Monument; don’t miss re-enactors in ornate Spanish military uniform as they fi re a cannon and antique muskets. Take a free tour of St. Augustine Distillery, a smallbatch vodka and gin producer housed in a circa-1907 ice plant, and refresh with Moscow Mules and grass-fed burgers at The Ice Plant Bar.

Rest your heads at the art-fi lled Casa Monica Hotel. In the a.m., motor two hours south to Orlando, where you can take a free yoga class at Lake Eola, catch a Broadway musical at the spanking-new Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and dine on Florida oysters and farm-to-fork fare at The Rusty Spoon. Rest up at EO Inn, with views of Lake Eola’s fountain lights. Rise in the morning for the journey to Everglades National Park, where you can race through the mangroves and track gators with Captain Jack’s Airboat Tours. Unpack the car and savor sparkling wine and sunset views on the wide beach of Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, just outside Naples. You’ve earned it.

On your last day in Vegas, tuck into brunch at chef Michael Mina’s new resto, Bardot; the indulgent menu features a parfait layered with escargots and foie gras. Stumble out of your food coma and into the calm of Mandarin Oriental’s spa, where the private, two-hour Double Happiness Ritual goes down in a candlelit couples suite. End your romp at L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon. The man at the helm is heralded as France’s Chef of the Century, and Zagat named the restaurant the best in town.
