Bruce Museum is a teaching museum of the arts and earth sciences. The collection of the Museum includes 19th-century paintings, prints, and sculpture, and American art pottery.

Connecticut’s first art colony. From 1890 to 1920. over 200 art students studied at the the Holley’s boarding house with leading American Impressionists John Heniy Twachtman, J. Alden Weir. Theodore Robinson, and Childe Hassam. Guided tours feature 18th- and early 19th-century Connecticut furniture and Impressionist art. A visitor center houses changing exhibitions, a sound and light show, and a family hands-on history gallery.
