MILES DESCRIPTION
4.1 One hundred sixty feet short of Nigh Lake the portage trail intersects the loop trail leading south; turn right. In about 450 feet, cross a stream just above a small waterfall.
4.6 Trail intersection completing the Pauline-Nigh Lakes Loop.
Continue straight ahead, passing the trail to the right.
5.3 An overlook from a rock outcropping on the left side of the trail provides views to the north of the Echo Trail and Superior National Forest, and of Nigh Lake partially hidden in the foreground.

Turn left, passing the trail to the right, to return to the trailhead.
6.2 Trail intersection with the portage trail at Nigh Lake; turn right.
6.9 Reach the Echo Trail. Here you have the option of continuing
the hike on the trail, or of walking along the road back to the parking lot.
