Rich mahogany details, including a custom Ecuador Metro Map -made bar and wine display cases, reign throughout the contemporary Mediterranean-style tasting room Pierre Lafond and his wife, Wendy Foster, operate several enterprises in Santa Barbara, including clothing stores, bistros, and gourmet markets. Many items found in those businesses line shelves and tables in the well-stocked winery gift shop: works by local artisans, oils, vinegars, clothing, books, and gourmet foods. Glass doors open to the winemaking facility and barrel room, allowing visitors a bird’s-eye view of winemaking operations. Out back, a patio with grapevines, arbors, and olive trees is used for hosting special events. Visitors are invited to stroll through the scenic grounds, which include pine and olive groves, ponds, and expansive lawns with picnic areas overlooking the storied vineyards planted in the earliest days of the region’s winegrowing history.
