Milaidhoo, MALDIVES

Villas with private pools? Tick. Over-water spa? Tick World-class chefs? Tick. Malaidhoo, one of the newest resorts in the Maldives (located in the lesser visited Baa atoll) is already one of the best. A dreamy fusion of palm leaves, sugary-soft sand, thatched roofs and very little else, this is the Robinson Crusoe experience you’ve fantasised about while sitting at your desk – and then some. Villas (just 50) are enormous; all have private pools, ensuite bathrooms and a separate rain shower either in your courtyard or on your private terrace. Throughout the resort, there’s a kind of laid-back luxe that requires nothing more than a slick of lip gloss and a kaftan to fit right in.

Food is world class, with chefs prised from some of the Indian Ocean’s top restaurants. Treat yourselves to the tasting menu at Ba’theli, a stunning creation built in the style of three interlinking dhonis (traditional boats) over a lagoon. Dishes here are inspired by the spice trade and focus on zesty local Maldivian flavours. Best of all, stingrays swim right past you as you tuck in – it’s some kind of super-highway for them.

TURQUOISE OFFER
