Parker Mesa Overlook Sits On A Wide Ridge Overlooking The Santa Monica Bay From An Elevation Of 1,525 Feet. From The Ocean-Front Knoll Are Expansive 360-Degree Views, Extending From The Bay To Palos Verdes. The East Topanga Fire Road Is A 4.6-Mile Vehicle-Restricted Road That Connects The Community Of Pacific Palisades With Trippet Ranch In Topanga State Park.

The Unpaved Road Climbs Northeast On The High Ridge Between Santa Ynez Canyon And Los Liones Canyon, All Within Topanga State Park. This Hike Begins From The Upper End Of Paseo Miramar In Pacific Palisades And Follows The Lower Two Miles Of The Fire Road To The Parker Mesa Overlook. Throughout The Hike Are Amazing Panoramas Of The Ocean, City, And Mountains.
To The Trailhead
From Santa Monica, Drive 3 Miles Northbound On The Pacific Coast Highway/Highway 1 To Sunset Boulevard. Turn Right And Drive 0.3 Miles To Paseo Miramar. Turn Left On Paseo Miramar, And Drive 1.2 Miles To The Trailhead At The End Of The Road. Park Alongside The Curb On The West Side Of The Street.
The Hike
From The North End Of Paseo Miramar, Pass The Trailhead Gate And Enter Topanga State Park. Hike North On The Dirt Fire Road Along The Ridge, Overlooking Santa Ynez Canyon, Pacific Palisades, And Santa Monica. Bend Left To A Junction With The Los Liones Trail On The Left At 0.2 Miles. (The Trail Leads 1.6 Miles Downhill To The Trailhead At The North End Of Los Liones Drive.) Continue Straight Ahead, Staying On The East Topanga Fire Road. Traverse The Hillside Above Santa Ynez Canyon To A Junction At 2 Miles. The Main Road Leads 2.7 Miles To Trippet Ranch (Hike 80) And 4 Miles To Eagle Rock (Hike 79). Instead, Leave The Fire Road And Take The Trail To The Left. Walk A Half Mile South To The Parker Mesa Overlook At The End Of The Trail. From The Bald Knoll Are Great Vistas Overlooking The Ocean And Coastline. After Savoring The Views, Return Along The Same Route.
