472 Massachusetts Ave Cambridge; (617) 497-0576
There is no excuse for not being able to find a show that will get you rockin’ here. One of the Boston area’s most popular music venues, the Middle East has three separate rooms presenting live music. You may catch anything from local rock and acid-jazz groups to a 22-piece circus band, or even a belly dancing performance.
Be sure to take advantage of some of the club’s specials: Every Saturday from 3 to 6 P.M. for example, is the Middle East’s Reggae Jam. Cover is a mere $2, mon. Also, on Sundays and Tuesdays, college students can get a dollar off admission with their school ID. Better yet, shows in the Bakery section are free to everyone, seven nights a week. Good cheap food, too; see the listing under Restaurants Cambridge.
Just around the corner is T.T. the Bear’s Place at 10 Brookline St. telephone (617) 492-2327. This is another of Cambridge’s longtime favorites for hot local bands, offering music every night of the week (sometimes as many as four groups a night!) at cover prices from $5-$6 and up.
