Called a park of many places, Waskasoo Park offers a variety of things to see and do. The park system follows Piper Creek and the Red Deer River and includes all the green areas in Red Deer. Bower Ponds are interconnected ponds used for boating and trout fishing. You will find paddle boat and kayak rentals, as well as a concession and washrooms. You can go ice-skating or tobogganing here in winter, and you can access extensive cross-country ski trails.

Cronquist House Multicultural Centre, a restored 1911 Edwardian-style farmhouse, overlooks the ponds. Stop here for lunch or tea and enjoy a look at the ethno-cultural displays.

If travelling with young children, do not expect to walk past the Discovery Canyon water play area without stopping. You can relax at a picnic table or on the beach while young ones cool off. Small children can ride inflatable tubes in water up to 45 centimetres deep. You can bring your own tube or rent one from the clubhouse.

Walk the McKenzie Trails along the main pond near the picnic shelter and playground area to see dozens of Canada geese raising goslings on the islands. Or visit Kin Kanyon for hiking or bike riding on trails through the creek valley. There’s a wading pool and playground here, as well as firewood and washrooms.
