Formed by the merger in 1996 of two institutions, the Museum of Art and History presents ten to twelve exhibitions annually, along with correlated education programs for both adults and children. The Museum’s permanent collection includes works of art and regional historical artifacts. There is a special emphasis on education for all ages. In addition to the four galleries located at the McPherson Center, the Museum owns and maintains two historical sites, Evergreen Cemetery and the Davenport Jail. Evergreen Cemetery offers monthly tours to enable the public to learn about the community’s past in an interactive manner. The Museum also uses the Octagon, originally the 1882 Hall of Records, as the site of the museum store.
