The James and Meryl Hearst Center for the Arts is a multi-disciplinary community arts center. Temporary exhibitions in the Dahl-Thomas and Dresser-Robinson galleries showcase local and regional art, as well as works by artists on the national and international scene. Art in all media is presented. Exhibitions include not only contemporary works, but also artworks from earlier periods and other cultures. Selections from the permanent collection, including works by Gary Kelley, Mauricio Lasansky. Marjorie Nuhn, John Page, and Grant Wood, are frequently displayed in the Reading Room and at other locations throughout the Center. Initiated by a bequest from farmer poet James Hearst and his wife, the Center is a division of the Department of Human and Leisure Services, City of Cedar Falls.
