At the Speed Art Museum one can travel through 6.000 years of creativity from ancient Egypt and medieval England to contemporary Xew York, and span the globe from Africa to Kentucky or a village in the Sioux Nation. The permanent collection numbers more than 8.000 objects and includes works bv Monet. Moore. Picasso. Rembrandt, and Rubens. The Museum also presents an extensive schedule of visiting shows.

University of Louisville – Allen R. Hite Art Institute Galleries

The Institute houses the Morris B. Belknap Jr. Gallery, the Dario A. Covi Gallery, and the Student Art League Gallery, as well as an art library, a visual resource center, and an art collection. The galleries feature rotating monthly exhibitions of the work of national and regional artists, craftspeople, and designers, in addition to student and faculty work. The Institutes art collection includes an extensive selection of prints and drawings from the 16th century to the present. The University of Louisville Photographic Archives, one of the largest and most thorough in the Southeast, is listed separately.
