THE RETREATS

The hotel also hosts some excellent retreats – from those focused on music and food to a clever Back-ln-A-Week retreat with famous physiotherapist Sarah Key for those suffering from back pain. This provides a proper understanding of your pain and what has caused it, how it’s best kept at bay and strategies for the future.

I, however, was here for a Yoga & Coastal Walks retreat with witty, passionate London-based Vinyasa Flow yoga teacher Zephyr Wildman. There were twice-daily yoga and meditation sessions, tailored to suit all levels, blended with guided or solo daily coastal walks in the local area. I also enjoyed the meeting of like minds over lavish but nourishing, chef-prepared meals, and the chance for down time and treatments.

We do love comfy PJs for relaxing in, and these are so soft and light (thanks to the stretch modal material they’re made from), that they’re perfect for when you’re staying in for a pampering session. We love the stylish ribbons and dropped shoulder style, too, which gives them an effortlessly chic look. No wonder this brand’s a hit with the A-listersi The name Eberjey comes from a Nigerian parable and encompasses closeness, goodness and joy, and though these aren’t the cheapest jammies, you’re worth it, so go on, treat yourself and feel like a star!

We did yoga in a large, naturally lit room with a mosaic floor and an enchanting Alice in Wonderland quote around its edge. Candles flickered and a gigantic vase of colourful fresh flowers graced a sidetable. Angel cards were laid out here too, and we were encouraged to pick one before class and use it to help us get clarity on where we were in our lives and how to take the next step. Wildman also shared words of wisdom, such as it you’re stressed, exhale tor longer; if you need energising, prolong your inhalations.

Evenings are spent on more restorative yoga, followed by group meals at which conversation flowed well.

All guests got gorgeous goodies at the start of the retreat, including a fabulous scarf from the hotel’s gorgeous boutique in the village, ONDA, which was set up by Onda’s daughter Charlie Polizzi.

THE FOOD

The airy restaurant overlooks the sea and the menu has a Mediterrean feel, with lots of excellently cooked local fish, including such delights as Hand dived scallops, pickled vegetables, yoghurt, honey and coriander. I enjoyed sipping champagne on the spacious terrace one evening before
