The pamphlet is one of the earliest Country documents to explore the theory of natural rights. 1732 Charles Calvert, Lord Baltimore, becomes the first proprietor to visit Maryland in almost fifty years. While Lord Baltimore and his lady energize an opulent social scene in Maryland, he also brings about a compromise with Daniel Dulany by granting Dulany several posts, including attorney general. The end result of Baltimore’s visit is, as much as possible, a return to the absolute authority vested in earlier proprietors. The country party is weakened significantly.
