The Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale occupies a 74.000-square-foot structure in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The building was designed by Edward Larrabee Barnes and completed in 1985. In addition to the display of permanent exhibitions, the Museum mounts a continuing series of major temporary exhibitions, drawing on works from jts own collection as well as from other major institutions in this country and abroad. The permanent collection of the Museum consists of over 5.400 works, and focuses on 20th-century European and American art. Its collection includes works by Picasso, Calder. Moore, Abbott, Rivers, Lawrence, and Stella. A William Glackens, Dancer in Blue. c. high.ight of the holdings is the nations largest collection of works by 1905, oil on canvas, 48 x 30 inches. American Impressionist William Glackens with over 500 drawings. Lauderdale PhoTograph oils, watercolors, and graphics.
