There was an ulterior motive in the creation of Latta Park: Developers built it to lure locals out of the downtown core and into the suburbs of the newly developed South End neighborhood. The 31-acre park is now considered an urban park and has all of the amenities a park needs, like a playground, ball courts, picnic shelters, and a splash pad for water play. On weekends the walking trails are packed with neighborhood residents pushing strollers, walking their dogs, and jogging.
