Bronx Park
Still other good reasons for venturing beyong the confines of Manhattan are the Bronx Zoo, largest in the United States, and above all the sparkling, newly revamped New York Botanical Garden Conservatory. Both are located in Bronx Park.
The all-glass conservatory, with a 90-foot-high crystal dome, covers almost an acre. Inside, you will find orchids and palm trees, a gurgling waterfall and the lush aroma of citrus trees. Open Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 to 4. You take the IND D or CC train to Bedford Park Boule-vard-200th Street. For the zoo, open daily 10 to 5, get off at East Tremont Avenue-177th Street on the IRT No. 2 or 5 express subway.
