Pacific Asia Museum Photo Gallery



The former gallery and home of Grace Nicholson, the Chinese Imperial Palace-style building was commissioned in 1924 and designed by Marston, Van Pelt and Maybury. Through its exhibition, education and outreach programs, Pacific Asia Museum preserves, presents, and interprets the varied arts and cultures of the Pacific Islands and Asia. Its courtyard is a Chinese garden replete with statues, koi pond, tai-hu style rocks and specimen plants. The Museums permanent collection includes more than 17,000 objects spanning more than 5,000 years of history and including both rare and representative examples of art and ethnographic objects from throughout the Pacific Islands and Asia.

The Art Division mounts temporary exhibitions of professional work during the academic year including a guest-curated show, a group faculty show, and an artist-in-residence exhibit. There are additionally a juried student show, a scholarship exhibition, and a summer group series featuring student independent studies. Additionally, the Division is closely involved in the development of a permanent contemporary art collection on exhibition in the Shatford Library. Also of possible interest, the Boone Sculpture Garden, designed by nationally recognized artist Jody Pinto, is located in the center of the PCC campus.
