At what age did you start cooking? I started cooking when I was eight years old. I learned from my father who was a very good cook.

How old are you now? 81 How long have you been working at Pangkor Laut? Since the hotel first opened, when I was 49. What’s special about the food? We create modern dishes with traditional techniques. Some of the recipes have been passed down through several generations of my family.

What’s your signature dish? Fuzhou sweet and sour fish maw soup. It’s a family recipe.
