Top Five Honeymoon Destinations for Romantic Travelers

The whole point of a honeymoon is that it should be romantic. You don’t want to end up surrounded by screaming kids and tour buses, so choosing a secluded resort in a quiet location is paramount. For some, the answer is to save up and go to a luxury destination for couples only, but whilst this will almost certainly be fantastic, there are plenty of other romantic places you can go to without spending an absolute fortune in the process.

Bora Bora, French Polynesia

It doesn’t get more romantic than Bora Bora in French Polynesia. Luxurious thatched-roof bungalows sit in the turquoise lagoon. You can whisper sweet nothings to your beloved while colorful fish swim in the water below, drink champagne as the sun sinks down over the horizon, or try a spot of scuba diving. The top hotels have romance’ concierges to take care of your every whim, but if you are travelling on a budget, there are cheaper options.

Kauai, Hawaii

Kauai in Hawaii is known as the Garden Island’. It’s a beautiful place: golden sandy beaches, waterfalls, dramatic cliffs, and some excellent snorkeling opportunities. Many of Kauai’s hotels are beachside, including the Kauai Beach Resort, so you can step from your room straight on to the beach. However, if you want a taste of true luxury, check out the Koloa Landing Resort with meandering lagoons and Hawaiian waterfalls.

Venice, Italy

If it’s good enough for George and Amal Clooney, it’s good enough for you. Venice in Italy might be knee deep in watery canals, but its crumbling palazzo lined streets and amazing architectural landmarks are a perfect for love-struck couples. Take a serenaded trip on a gondola, enjoy a cappuccino in St Mark’s Square, sample some Italian ice cream, and view some of the city’s amazing art exhibits. George and Amal stayed at the Hotel Cipriani, but there are plenty of cheaper boutique hotels that are equally as romantic.

Paris, France

Paris, France, is the city of lovers, and therefore a top romantic honeymoon destination. Paris has everything you could possibly ask for in a honeymoon destination: fabulously luxurious hotels such as the Georges V, wonderful art galleries, and food to die for. Spend your honeymoon feeding each other oysters washed down with Champagne, wandering through Parisian side streets, exploring the fashion boutiques Paris is famous for, and watching life go by from a trendy pavement caf©.

Napa Valley, California

Napa Valley in California is nice and close to home if you live in North America. You won’t get white beaches and beach resorts in the Napa Valley, but with award winning wineries, beautiful, lush landscapes, and some excellent spas, it makes a great honeymoon destination for wine loving couples.

You only get one honeymoon (hopefully!), so it is important to ensure you have the best possible experience. As such, sit down with your fianc© before booking a honeymoon and discuss your expectations. It could be that their idea of a romantic honeymoon is exploring Mayan temples in Mexico, which is at odds with your desire to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. So talk about it before you make a booking!
