The Whitney Museum of American Art, Fairfield County is the Connecticut branch of the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. The gallery space features changing exhibitions of American art, primarily of the 20th century and frequently drawn from the permanent collection of the Whitney in New York.

Housed in a National Register building (a converted dining hall), the Museum traces its roots to the donation to the University of his art collection by former University President Beach. His bequest included works by Hassam. Ranger. Lawson, and Wiggins. Since then, the collection has grown to include works by Cassatt, Benton, Bellows, Marsh, Rembrandt Peale, Braque, and Burne-Jones, now totaling some 4,000 objects. Also of possible interest on campus is the Atrium Gallery (875 Coventry Road: Monday-Fnday, 8:30-4:30; 486-3930).
