An historic house museum, the Flagler features “Whitehall”. Henry Flagler’s wedding present to his wife. When it was completed ;n 1902, Whitehall was hailed by the New York Herald as “more wonderful than any palace in Europe, grander and more magnificent than any other private dwelling in the world.” After a career as a founding partner with John D. Rockefeller in Standard Oil. Henrv Morrison Flagler turned his interests to developing Florida. Eventually. Flaglers Florida East Coast Railway, and the luxury hotels he built along the way, linked the entire east coast of Florida, establishing agriculture and tourism as Floridas leading industries and Palm Beach as one of the world’s great winter resorts. Flaglers private railcar is displayed on the South Lawn of the Museum. In addition to tours of Whitehall, the Flagler presents special programs and changing exhibits dunng the year.
