Setting Our Sights on South Beach

On this week’s We Hear, it’s getting cold up here in New York Let’s make time for sunshine, food and wine, and tan lines.. I think it just rhymes. It’s 28 degrees in New York. Miami is on our radar this week. Head down to South Florida the last week of the month and be sure to grab tickets to one of the city’s most popular events: the South Beach Wine & Food Fest, from Wednesday February 24th through the 28th, guests can attend intimate dinners with celebrity chefs, cook-offs and competitions, wine seminars, cocktail parties, classes and more, where you’ll mingle with stars like Andrew Zimmern Giada De Laurentiis and Joel Robuchon. Buy tickets online for a Friday night Tiki party with Guy Fieri or score seats at a casual barbecue featuring burgers and Amstel Light, hosted by Rachael Ray.

If you can’t make the Food Festival, there is the Miami International post Festival happening March 4th through the 13th, showcasing over a hundred posts from over 40 countries. Attend screenings and hear from talent like Italians green star Monica Bellucci who will talk about her career and her newest post, Ville-Marie. You can also head down for Miami’s Gay Pride weekend happening April 8th through the 10th, which will feature grand marshal Elvis Duran from the Elvis Duran Morning Show. Party all weekend long and then watch the floats and revelers march down Ocean Drive on Sunday starting at noon.

If you need a place to stay, the W Hotel South Beach is offering a fourth night free or check out Starwood’s brand new Aloft South Beach on Collins Avenue where you can expect a lower price point, modern design touches, and free Wi-Fi. In March, the Spanish hotel brand Melia will open the doors at its much-anticipated property ME Hotels on Miami’s famous Biscayne Boulevard, just down the street from the Wynwood Art District. This will be Malia’s first foray into the US market and they plan on making a lasting impression with travelers looking for experience to be remembered. Guests will dine at the on-site STK Rebel Steakhouse, swim in one of two pools, and luxuriate in the hotel spa.
